| Answer# 2 | Do you know anything about being able to maintain a VAC dressing while in a monoplace chamber? |
| Answer# 13 | I attended a seminar several years ago and remembered that you had a wound care center. I am currently working to revise our own skin care policy and I need a 'personal' touch, a little networking. In the recent past we had a problem with MRSA showing up in perineal boils (generally on the men in our residence). Do you think I could find any info on how to treat them? Not a chance! I changed the type and brand of 'incontinence briefs', switched over to protective barriers in a tube not a tub and instituted BID peri-care with 3:1 Hibiclens. Recently there has been concern that Hibiclens is too caustic and we should d/c it's use. I really don't want to change the system that works, but I also want to keep the patient in mind in the long run. I am currently working on trialing a product that is an antimicrobial peri-wash (Gentell Liquid Clean). All the wound care info in the literature is related to pressure ulcers, etc. I need to come up with an assessment tool and treatment plan to differentiate between the two (incontinence care/MRSA and pressure ulcers). Can you help me? |
| Answer# 14 | My physician is currently using a solution that he 'designed'. I don't like it and can't really tell him. I was wondering what you thought. The irrigation mixture is hydrogen peroxide, betadine and acetic acid. I thought these materials were 'banned' from wound care and as a RN I don't feel comfortable using them. What do you think? |
| Answer# 15 | One of our patients goes for daily hyperbaric treatments and the doctor ordered for the home health nurse to do daily dressing changes before the patient goes to HBO. Will home health be able to bill or is this considered a duplication of services? Please advise, thank you. |
| Answer# 26 | For a patient receiving hyperbaric oxygen how should one handle an Unna Boot? Is it safe in the monoplace chamber? |
